My name is Greg Seagrave. I have lived most of my life in Indiana. I suppose I can be known as
a "Hoosier artist" even though after you view my work, it is safe to say that I do not paint
landscapes or bowls of fruit. I am an abstract artist who just happens to live in the Midwest - my
home and studio is in Indianapolis Indiana.
For the most part, I am a self-taught artist. I did take fundamental
art classes both in high school and college, but the bulk of my expertise comes from years of
experimentation and personal contemplation.
My influences are many and varied. Clearly, mid- 20th century
Expressionism is an influence. I am also a fan of Francis, Warhol,
Haring, and other contemporary art icons of the 20th century.
My work consists of free flowing movement, vivid color,
organic shapes, and variations of crisp, defining, line to create an
active environment that engulfs the canvas surface. While my earlier works are more
non-objective and more or less design based, my current works are more "edgy" and based on
personal experiences, fears, loves, thoughts, ect.. You might also see symbolism, human forms,
and maybe even the occasional face looking back at you - Every Picture Tells A Story!!
